Fishing
Tennessee has an incredibly diverse fish population. There are over 300 species of fish, 280 of which are native to the state. There are thousands of lakes/ponds and miles of streams to fish all over the state; even with the ever-changing weather, there’s always somewhere to fish!
1Things to Know
- Free Fishing Day is always the Saturday of the first full week in June. Anyone can fish for free without a license in any of Tennessee’s public waters, agency and operated lakes, and any of Tennessee’s State Parks.
- Free Fishing Week follows Free Fishing Day! Children ages 15 and younger can fish for free in all of the aforementioned waterways!
- Children under 12 must wear a life jacket except when a boat is anchored, moored, or aground.
